Alloy C276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium super alloy with a small amount of tungsten, designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. These contents make this nickel alloy especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments while chromium conveys resistance to oxidizing media. The low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding to maintain corrosion resistance in as-welded structures.
Characteristics
- High nickel and molybdenum contents providing good corrosion resistance in reducing environments
- Resistance to localized corrosion such as pitting and stress-corrosion cracking
- Excellent resistance to phosphoric acid at all temperatures
- C276 exhibits a good resistance to corrosion by seawater especially under crevice conditions
Market applications:
- Chemical processes
- Oil and gas industry
- Pulp and paper production
- Very high chloride environments
- Pollution control
